A decade of lost chances

Rolling Stone magazine hasn’t been the same since Fred Woodward and Gayle Anderson moved on. The journalism remains strong: The article about Stanley McChrystal by Michael Hastings, published by Rolling Stone in July, led to the firing of  the General, the US’s top man in Afghanistan. But the design is mediocre at best.

However this cover from January 2010 is simple and direct. It fronts an article inside about how lousy the first decade of 2000 has been. The letter o, missing from the nameplate, becomes a zero, the symbol for nothing. The title of the article inside is “A decade of lost chances.”
