Pattern a day: Z

The final letter of the alphabet.

This exercise was quite a challenge because the majority of capital letters (15 or 58%), are designed with straight lines and no curves.

Here is the breakdown:

All straight lines
AEFHIKLMNTVWXYZ (15)

All curved lines
COS (3)

Combination of straight and curved lines
BDGJPQRU (8)

Additionally the same weight and size was used throughout.

For the next exercise I’m going to use only lower case letters. The advantage is that the construction of lowercase letters contain fewer straight lines. But more about this later.

    Hi Max!
I loved these! Looked forward to each letter. With your next installment, can you include the font name?
    Thanks!

    • Hi Nicole

      Thanks for your note!

All 26 letters use the same font: Gill Sans medium.
